Small Cab, Want Bucket Seats

I'm looking to put bucket seats in my 97 ranger, but as you may know cab space is very limited in a model with no back seats. The factory seats don't even recline very far. I was wondering what my options are in the way of bucket seats when I don't have much room to work with.

thanks

you can modify you stock seats so that they are bucket. the extra part on the driver's seat can be cut off using a cutting wheel or a cutting torch (overkill) then cover it up by sewing in some new fabric. this is what i did, but I also cut off the headrests for a low profile bucket seat.

there are several other options like explorer seats, mustang seats (bolt-in), or you can use almost any bucket seat and modify the track to fit in your truck.

How do explorer or mustang seats compare in size to the factory seats in a 97 ranger

I think the mustang seats are a little smaller and the explorer ones are a little bigger. Plus if you look around enough you can find some Explorer seats in leather. NICE!!

you could do a true bench seat, but again you probably have to fabricate your own tracks....maybe a rear bench seat from an explorer or mustang. I haven't heard of this being done before so I don't know how easy or difficult it would be. As far as I know, there aren't any direct replacement bench seats for the Ranger.

I think the bench is a good idea, I am hoping to do this in my 90 Ram, but this should be pretty easy cuz some years came with benches or I could pull one from a Ramcharger.

go to a junkyard and get some seats, just hunt around at a couple. You wont be able to fit explorer seats in your regular cab without changing the seat tracks. I changed my seats with another ranger, its easy and i asked dumb questions only cause im lazy.

But basically, if you want less work with great quality, get some seats out of a regular cab ranger...otherwise use your imagination cause if you have the resources then you can make anything.

Ya I'm gonna look around. But Mustang seats sound pretty cool would those fit any better than explorer seats?
