Switch Location

Hey Guys

So a month ago I installed some KC slimlites and I have temporarily located the switch by the driverside kickpanel. I want to move it to a more reasonable location. Any ideas? I was thinking about finding someone to frabricate the benzel around the radio, but not too keen on trying to do it my self.

any suggestions?

you could get a sport trac bezel with a switch for the rear defrost and have a second foglight switch there...it looks stock and is a direct swap

You can get a low profile rocker switch and mount it in the center bezel. If you look where the red circle is in this pic, you'll see where I mounted my round rocker switch. It also has a blue LED indicator light. I did it with a drill and a sand wheel....but a Dremel tool would be perfect for this.

Really the only interior pic that shows the switch.....bad pic, but it does the trick.

Here's mine. I just used a stock fog light switch and mounted it in the "extra slot" on the bezel.

Wasn't hard at all. Dual DIN adaptor plate from Circuit City($20+tax) and 3 rockers ($5+tax/each). I don't like the ones with cubby's cuz they're basically useless unless you have toothpick fingers or something and I got tired of looking at the blank plate. After thinking for an hour where to mount some switches, I had an epiphany. I was thinking about using the first one for my reverse lights. That lil toggle on the top left of the bezel controls them. The bezel needs paint anyways, the rubber crap is peeling. I just have to fill in the lil hole where the toggle use to be.....I dunno yet.

since i dont smoke, i put my firefighter blue light switch, and my efan a/c interruptor switch(it will turn the fan off if the a/c compressor is running) in the ash tray of my explorer center console.....it has a flip up lid that can hide the switchs and give my interior a "factory" look..........

How did you get your dual din radio bezel to be a smooth looking single din without an adapter? Or is there some slide of hand?

Mine looks very similar to that, but with a touchscreen molded in where the radio goes.

Hey guys

Thanks for all the ideas. I liked Rolldogg's location the best, and when I get some time I will get started on that.

Where did you get that bezel where your switches are mounted? I want that! I never use my ash tray cause that's what windows are for, and I can just relocate the airbag switch.
