Just wired mine up yesterday, not Autometer, but it's electric:

Red wire = ignition
Orange wire = battery
Green wire = sender
White wire = light
Black wire = ground

Not sure if wire colors are same between brands, but that's the schematic on mine.................

Hope it helps ya some Zach!

:24:SORRY, misunderstood what ya was lookin for.............

My wirin harness for that gauge was only like 1/8" in diameter, wires were smaller than the 22ga wire I ran from it............

Good luck with it Zach.................

Where do you have your sender at?

I'll post up a how too after there was pics but they have since been gone

You can get a manifold that plums into the trans cooler line and then your sender for the gauge goes into the side of the manifold..

Im interested in this, Ive wanted one for awhile

There is a pressure test port on the drivers side of the trans. This is the hottest place to get a temp from. After it leaves the pump it heads to the cooler(s).

IIRC its a 1/4 npt tapped hole. Which your sender should be too. At least the one i got was.

Theres a how to somewhere on this board showing pics. As for the wiring i just tapped my radio harness.

not to bring up an old thread, but my search has yielded nothing but unclear information. What is needed to get the trans temp gauge working, i understand that the gauge is electric, but what do i need for a temperature sensor? could someone help guide me through this process? haha

You can buy a scan guage 2 and you can read trans temp off that :biggthump

I mounted mine on the column but used a Aeroforce gauge. Monitors 30+ different parameters. I have mine set up to read

IAT
Tranny Temp
Water Temp
MPG
RPM
Timing
MAF Counts
Battery Volts

Attachment 92646

the gauge comes with a temp sender, unscrew the line pressure test port on the drivers side (11mm) and screw the sender in (teflon tape) and then power, ground and gauge cluster light to the gauge

Just wired mine up this weekend...and then it snowed. So I dont have pictures yet....nor have I been able to test it yet. But I used the pressure port on the Driver side of the Trans also.....which took me about 30 seconds to remove and replace with the temp sending unit. I wired the illumination and ignition wire into the factory cluster, ground into the driver side kick panel and ran the sending unit wire thru the firewall and down to the trans.

+1 I've got one and gives trans temp no problem  plus a whole lot of other cool information on the truck and transmission, torque converter ect...
