Tweed

Already Searched.

Been doing some tweed and painting interior pieces for a two tone look and everything but I am having the hardest time putting that damn tweed on my door panels. Everytime I get to the top where the mirror bolts would be, I run into trouble. I can't get it to bend into place without creases. Anyone that has done this please shoot me a line. I am also going to be doing the dash and it has quite a bit of contours so any help is appreciated. Really want to get it all on there with 1 large piece with no creases, thanks.

Have you tried cutting the pieces in certain areas (I.E. around your bolts) so that it stretches easier?

i haven't worked with tweed, so i'm not sure if it starts to undo itself if you cut it in certain ways... but what i'd try is to make small triangular cuts at the edge of the material, where the material will overlap along the backside of the panel, and then try your best to stretch it and work it as you go... making those slits will allow for the material to work a little bit better.. it's still going to be a pain though, just takes time.

I've bee on the same piece for like an hour and a half now becasue of these seems. I am working on the back passengers plastic sidewall that houses the speaker. Its so rediculous and I keep trying it over and over again. I get so many creases on the front side that even if I make those slits on the back, they aren't going away, no clue wtf I am doing wrong.
