What are my options?

So this tear began a little while back and has been getting worse. What are my options for fixing this? I've heard of some type of glue for vinyl seats that could fix it. I don't think I've seen interior like this on any else's truck.

Keep in mind I was thinking of having the seat cut down to a bucket for my expo center console.

On a side note, if I ever found a passenger seat identical to mine, could I just replace the driver seat with that passenger seat, or will it not bolt up right?

Well I like the seats, and I'm concerned with the cost of getting new seats.

Whats the price range on getting expo, sport trac, or ranger buckets out of junkers?

I still would like to know about fixing it

you can either take it to an upholstery shop and get it replaced, or you can get a passenger side bottom and bolt it into your driver seat. it will make the driver seat a bucket, which sounds like what you want to do.

The tops and bottoms of the seat, or are you referring to finding a seat out of a junkyard truck?

yeah, in a jy. or even ebay. you would probably have to buy the entire seat, but you can swap the lower pan from a passenger seat to the driver's seat to make buckets.

if you get a bottom from the passenger side the recline lever will be on the wrong side.

no it wouldn't be! you are only swapping the metal seat pan, foam and cover. the recline lever is part of the seat frame, a part you won't be swapping. there will be a leftover hole on the inside of the drivers seat, but that would be hidden by the console.

I gotcha, well looks like I need to make some junkyard runs. If anyone in or around MO finds what I'm looking for at a good price, let me know.

I was thinking of just the same thing but ended up finding some Ex Seats so went that way but I would think the cushion part of the passenger seat would be a direct replacement BUT you lose the arm rest/mini console.

Luck and post what you end up doing this could start a whole new bucket seat mod.
