Icon4 Power locks don't work & driver's door WILL NOT lock

Hey guys,

The power locks in my truck don't work period. The passenger door I am able to lock and unlock from the inside and the outside (by hand of course). But the driver's door is what is causing problems. The driver's door is unlocked ALL of the time, I cannot lock it. No matter how hard I push down on the lock thing by the window inside, or no matter how hard I twist the key outside to try to lock it, it will not lock. I tried taking the door panel off (one screw by the door opener, and one screw in the grab handle), but I couldn't get the whole thing off and I was afraid if I took it off I might pull on the PL/PW cords too much and wreck something (the power windows still do work, so I don't want to ruin that also..)

Without further delay, why can't I lock my door at all and how can I attempt to fix it?

* Many thanks in advance, especially if I can fix it. *

The problem with the driver side, you probably need a new door latch. It is probably frozen or jammed. It could also just be a problem with one of the rods but it doesn't sound like it from the way you described it. The passenger side I don't know. I would fix the driver side first then work on the passenger side. It could just be a blown fuse or bad connection. I hope this helps.

I can open the driver's door fine from both the outside latch and the inside latch. I actually don't really care if the power locks work or not, I just want to be able to lock the driver's door somehow so thieves can't break in.

What is the proper way to get to the door lock mechanism in a 89-92 Ranger? Do I take out the two screws (grab handle and door opener) and pull up or pull out? Last time I wasn't able to get it off, maybe I didn't pull hard enough, I just didn't want to ruin anything.
