EDIT: After rethinking, there is a small possibility that the odometer would still work but noone that I have heard of has taken out a newer cluster to even see if the plugs would fit. And like Neil mentioned, all the dummy lights are differnet and there are even some gauges removed in the new clusters. So I am still leaning on the side of it not working.

I don't think the odometer is an issue. More like the gauges. It could be the electronic odometer just reads the VSS signal just like the electromechanical odometer did.
I would be more worried about overall wiring harness changes. I have no idea if the connectors are even the same that plug into the dash module. I have no prints for, and have not seen in person, a 2004 dashboard connection system.
