Ignition Lock Cylinder

My ignition lock cylinder on my truck is worn out to the point that I can start my truck without the key. This is a replacement lock cylinder I had bought back in high school to replace the original cylinder that had worn out. Seeing as it didn't last long I want to replace it with an OEM motorcraft unit but on rock auto there are several cut letter choices. I don't know which one to purchase. I also plan on having the new cylinder rekeyed to my original truck key (as i did with my current cylinder).

You could try calling Ford Dealer to see if they have the Cut ID for your VIN
But they usually don't after 15 years old.

Locksmith can usually ID cut letter from original key, has to do with the bumps and dips.

Getting correct cut letter cylinder makes it easier to rekey to match door locks and ignition

I'll have to take my key to the locksmith then. My truck is the Mazda version of the Ranger so Ford won't be able to look it up. I've had the local dealer attempt to run the Mazda vin in the past but their computers don't accept it.
