2002 Ranger Reg Cab Seat Swap Problem

I know this has been covered a million times but I could not find the answer to my question. I reacently swapped the 60/40 bench out of my 2002 reg cab ranger xl for some buckets out of a 2000 explorer 2dr sport. I now have a air bag light flashing and am pretty sure it is for the pretentioner for the seat belt. Is there anyway to eliminate the pretensioner and do away with it all together? Or is this something I would not want to do for safty reasons?
Thanks

if you eliminate it, it will disable the system and leave the light one all the time. did you swap your seat belts to the new seats? if so, check the plugs to make sure they are clean and making good contact.

also, count the number of times it flashes to be sure what the code is.

I did not swap the seat belts over it just seemed like to much of a pain. But by elimination the pretentionser it isnt going to hurt me safty wise is it? If i can do with out it what i would really like to kno is how to get.the light to go off? From what i understand the computer wants a certain amount of voltage in that wire could i just fool it?

Look at your old seats.... you MAY be able to pull the pretension sensor off the old seat and swap it over. Just having it plugged in might turn off the light... As a last resort, you could always pull the bulb from the cluster.

Use caution, though... if the computer's controlling the airbag and you work around the light, the AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY when you need it to! A comfy seat isn't worth a face full of windshield!

no way to safely bypass the system. put the pretensioners back in. they are made to work with the airbags to keep you safe.

don't pull the bulb out of the dash. you will then end up with a series of 5 audible beeps until you put the bulb back in.

ydocnitsua6705,
How did you make out on the pretensioners ?
990ffroadrngr had a thread about the pretensioner and how he attached them to the Expo Seats.
Maybe you should PM him and see if he has the pics.
