June 2010 OBX Camping Meet!!!???
Found out from Sara that some weekend in June, she will be going to a bachelorette party down at one of the beaches (not sure which one). Well me and her dont get to go to a beach together this year because we are saving money. Soooo since she is going to go to a beach, I'm going to go to a beach. This isnt in spite or anything, i just figured I would take the chance to do something Ive always wanted to do and that is camp on the OBX. You would think that since I lived down there, i would have done this, but nope!
Now to the details. I wil be camping June 18-20(Fri-Sun) so thats 2 nights for a total of $40. Trent said it should be easy to double or triple up at the camping spots. I will get a headcount later so i can reserve some camping spots. Going: Scott Marcus (Maybe) Joey (Maybe) |
Your crazy man, you know how hot it is down there. I did that last year and it was miserable lol. The campground at Oregon Inlet is pretty nice though, right down from the entrance to the beach and the showers and bathrooms are in good condition. It gets PACKED on the beach though so just a fair warning. If you have a lot of people and want to park together your gonna want to get out there semi early. You can also walk to the beach but its a good distance to carry a cooler back drunk so just remember that lol.
Now depending on the weekend I might come down but I'll be in a hotel room with the girlfriend most likely. Unless we bring our friends and then we'll probably bring a camper. You can easily fit 2 vehicles and 2-3 tents on each campsite as well so doubling up won't be an issue. Save some cash |
i have always wanted to come down there and wheel down there depending on the date i may just stop on the way to sc for vacation with my parents

EDITED ORIGINAL POST I do need to know at least by May 18th (a month in advance) so I can reserve us some spots |
I think your right it was around 18-20. Your going to want to pick up all your food in Kitty Hawk or Nags Head, theres no anything down near the campground except for a small gas station type shop over by the coast guard station. I would fill up with gas up there too

2 for sure, 3 might be pushing it. I would call and verify you can fit 3 before doing it.
|
I would love to come down Scott. I probably wouldn't stay the night in the campground if I decided to stay, but I am all for hanging out for the day.
|
I would consider it, but can't plan ahead like that.
I went last August (I think) and it was hot, and bugs were out in full force. Honestly if I come down I might look at a hotel as well. I hate that you have to pay to camp, and you are 10ft from the people next to you, bathrooms are shared and always gross, too hot at night, etc... Might as well have a room at that point. Camping just isn't the same on this side of the country! |
Alright guys, we'll see, I my stay in Hertford next to Elizabeth City with my grandma and drive down for a day if it as bad as ya'll say it is! I dk yet, I guess I need to decide! Camping, motel, or grandmas

If you don't mind sleeping in the heat then you probably wont have a problem. I just hate laying there and sweating, I refuse to do it. When we went the campground wasn't very full so the bathroom stayed pretty clean. But in the middle of the season I can expect them to get pretty gross when the campground is full.

We may think about that route too david! Either way, I'm definitly coming down for June 18-20 and hittin the beach

UPDATE!
Well Ive made up my mind what I'm going to do! June 18th (Friday) im taking the day off and heading out early to Hertford, NC (next to Elizabeth City) to spend the day and night at my Grandma's house (fist time since grandpa died). I will get up early June 19th (Saturday and head down to the beach), check in to the campground early and get setup. Then spend all day wheeling/fishing/drinking..lol. Spend the night at the campground (yes im going to rough it for one night). Do some more wheeling Sunday morning and head out sometime. Anyone who want to come can. If you want to camp, im fine with that. Trent said i can fit 2-3 trucks per campground. As of the moment, its just my truck and possibly mossyoak03 (marcus). So Joey (Silver) Trent, David, William (willinthe04ranger), etc....Come on down if its not just for the day. It'll be fun as **** fishing and wheeling! Like I said, i will be camping that night, so come on down! Trent, how does the campground work, can I make reservations? Also, on Sunday, is there a certain time I have to be off of the campground (check out..lol) |
I'll make a day run out of this,it will be nice to come home to a cool place after roasting in the sun all day lol .........just need to figure out where you all will be than decide to go threw Elisabeth City or shoot down 64 and ill be there early in the morning too
|
alright sounds good! we will prolly be at the campground setting up that morning and then heading out to wheel and fish
I know you siad something about not having tow hooks, we will get out on that beach one way or the other! |
Joey your 2wd right? The entrance to the beach is the worst, just lower the pressure and try to mob right through haha
Scott as for reservations I don't really remember, I would just give the campground a quick call. |
The only thing ive found is you have to have a group of 7 or more for reservations. i cant even find a number for the campground (havent looked that hard)
|
They're first come first serve. Okracoke is the only one where you can get reservations.
|
This is the number for the fishing center, they should be able to get the number for the campground
(252) 441-6301 |
yah i called them, and he gave me a number, but it was do an automated service and it said for group reservations of 7 or more, so I take I cant get a damn reservation, i just have to go and hope for the best
|
what camp sight u going to?
|
