Guys,

So the OBX meet was a blast! But now its time for a Mountain Meet! The date is set for October 9, 2010 which is a few weeks away. This will be a camping trip in the Wilson Creek Area which is in the Pasgah National Forest near Lenoir, NC. There are TONS of offroad trails (mostly gravel though) that weave through the forest.

ranger_1999 (Dustin McCann) knows the area like the back of his hands, so he will be the one taking us to a camping spot. from my understanding, we will NOT be at a campground. This is camping at its finest..lol.

So the nature of this trip, we would all need to meet at a certain time so that we can all be together and makes things easier.

We are not going to make a list of things to bring to make this complicated. Just bring whatever food you will need personally and whatever camping/fishing supplies you may need also (make sure you have correct licenses). We will be doing some riding/hiking/fishing, so bring whatever equipment you will need!

So now we need to establish a meeting point and time!

 

I should be in, need to make sure Cort is ok with staying that weekend. So would this just be Friday night or Saturday night?

Dustin where exactly is the spot at?

 

Saturday we meet sometime (preferrably morning really no later than 10), spend that night, hang out a little sunday and then head home

 

Alright I'll check with her. I need to check with my mom too, she said something about a family dinner for my birthday that weekend but I don't know if anything is set in stone yet. I'll find out today though and report back.

 

Alright I'll be there, Cort said she would love to go. You guys want me to bring some wings or something? Or everyone could bring their own steaks or something. I'll have my grill with me so I can do whatever you guys want

 

Planning to be in Knoxville for the beardgate swap. If that doesn't work out I might be in.

 

So any ideas where you guys want to meet? I'm coming from the opposite direction so I might meet you guys at the visitor center or something depending on what part your going.

Hey Dustin I have a Wilson Creek map and GPS now so I can't get lost again haha.

 

Yeah everyone just bring whatever! Im sure it can be cooked either way! basically ring wahtever kind of food you want, coolers, etc...

I remeber the visitor center. I dk where to meet, what about Hickory or something like that, then we could just drive in from there

 

throw me on the list for maybe. I don't think I have anything on that weekend. just gotta get the ok :P

 

Hickory is kind of an hour out of the way for me and then back to Wilson Creek. Dustin needs to get on so he can tell the route hes going to take and I can meet with you all at the entrance to Wilson Creek or something.

But its up Penola Road off BMB road....I take 18 to Playmore beacg road and then onto Brown mtn beach road, and so forth..I take the back roads

 

Nah trent you and I went there the one other time, its where you cross that little creek and its wide open at the bottom, you remember??

Yeah I can meet you in Lenoir, its a little longer if I went down 181 but whatever, I don't mind the drive.

 

Are you coming from Boone? Then you dont go down 181, you go down 321S to 18

Banner Elk, 181 is closer than 321. What time we're you guys planning on leaving Hickory? I might just head down there and get some new sunglasses from my aunt's store that morning. I thought I remembered Scott saying something about 10, I don't know if that was leaving there or meeting at 18/321 though.

 

I dont think he can leave his house till 12 now...ask him to make sure

Its not up at grandfather its off of 221 headed to morganton if I remember correctly. I'll see if I can find it on the map

Alright. I'm 90% sure this is around the area we camped, I'm sure its off of that road. I always go in off of that Forest Road right there, take a left and theres a ton of campsites down there.

Now we can camp anywhere, there is soooooo many different places to camp. We can just drive around and pick one that looks good. Doesn't matter at all to me

 

Looks hella sweet man...Cant wait, plus its turning cool now, so Im hoping itll be nice enough to wear jackets and NEED a fire..
