klc said there is some small trails there that us 4x2 owners can go on with little problems. if one of us gets stuck those 4x4's can pull us out. trails is the way i want to go, i don't know about everyone else!

There are some short mild trails NE of Roswell. Like I said, the long and rough trails are about 50 to 60 miles W of Roswell, but there is no way a 4x2 could make it. There are a few trails even a 4x4 could not make it through, not in one piece anyway. You'd get some major body damage. I don't know about you guys but I want to keep my Ranger damage free anyway.

Scenic, photograph, and activity wise Ruidoso is the best place to go. There are a few trails there we could go on that are mild as well. I did not suggest going there because it would probably be too far for those of you coming from Albuquerque. Although Ruidoso is closer for you guys further to the South and West.

If the decision were solely up to me I'd choose Ruidoso because there is more to do and see. I brought Roswell up because it is more centrally located, about equal distance for everyone (except me). Albuquerque would be nice but it is nearly 300 miles away for some of us.

Ruidoso it is!

Where would everyone like to meet in Ruidoso? I think the easiest place to find is Walmart in Ruidoso Downs. So maybe we could meet up in the Walmart parking lot?

How about a time?

it's about an 1hr to 1 and 15 min from El Paso to Alamogordo and about 1hr from Alamogordo to Ruidoso. So, over all about 2hrs 15 min or so. I usually drive a little fast, so I make it quicker. Walmart is a great place to meet because it is super easy to find, and I would say around noon or so. If you want to meet somewhere in Alamo, I can show you the way up to Ruidoso.
