Ive done it twice. I have a 11 hour drive home. If anything breaks we can fix it out there. Just take it easy the day before you leave and its all good.

Me and the GF will be going 2-6. I'd try and go earlier in the week but I'd rather work atleast a couple days. Plus running the dunes wed, thursday, friday, sat. is plenty of days.

Like $900 each way to have the truck shipped... unless I ship it to Minneapolis then it's like $700 each way... either way it's cheaper than driving it!! May have to wait till 2011 though to come out again... vacation time re-ups June 20th so I guess we'll see how finances are going in like April/May...

Thats unacceptable, tell them now when you are taking your vacation...they have like 8 months to work around it!

I'm not worried about them working around it... it's a matter of PAID vacation vs. UNPAID vacation...

What about checking out those trails in the state forest? Oh and this time I'm going through Chicago both ways. I dont care about tolls or traffic, I'm not gonna spend 15 hours dodging bears. haha. Im thinking of going the 1st - 7th.

hotel.....screw that. We stay at the yogi bear park. Its alot of fun. We burn jeep valances, hit dumpsters with axes, and join strangers to watch the hockey game projected on the side of someones rig. Its cheaper too! Chances are I will have my camper out there. It has 4 beds and Im thinking Im going to rent some of them out.

Go! lol

I plan to make it out there. My friend told me its probably faster for me to cut through Canada than to take the way mapquest tells me to go. I gotta look into that to start planning my route although its 8 months away!

edit: my friend is dumb lol it takes longer through Canada

Unless you get like 7 miles to the gallon your numbers are way off. I just calculated it its about 2300 miles. At 15 MPG and gas being 2.75 your looking at $421 each way.

Well... 4,682 miles round trip at 17 mpg at $2.90 per gal gas (that's what it is here atleast) comes to $798.69. That doesn't include food, hotel, or the good old wear on the vehicle expense. Also doesn't take into consideration I would probably have to take 4 days drive time each way off work with partial to no pay because I don't have the vacation time.

haha yeah Matt that was a one time trip back. I'll have to find out the way you go through Chicago and Indiana. Hugging the Lake was a bad idea. Yeah I'd be down for finding trails to ride too.

yeah screw the hotel, just share a campsite with someone. tent it up or somthing.
