Silver lake discussion thread

I wanted to get a poll started about silver lake, I've been talking to a number of members and I raised the following question.
Should the annual silver lake meet be moved back to where it was (beginning of summer in June) or should it stay where it is (middle of July)?

If it was moved back to June it would open up the option for those who want to make a second later summer trip. I know the last two years were moved for whatever reason and I understand life gets in the way.

So please vote (if the poll works as I'm not good at setting it up) and give your ideas, concerns and opinions. The reason I'm starting this early to ask is I had my vacation picks and was trying to plan for SL and this had me wondering about going back to the way it was.

Myself I'd like to start planing for two trips a year and I was curious if others felt the same way. I know everyone's finances are different but at least the option of having two dates might make it easier for those to come.

Now that I'm graduated and working I can finally go on these trips. I'm getting married at the end of May so early June will be pushing it, we might be finding a new place to live around that time

StxDangerRanger 10-22-2012 08:08 PM

I support the two trips idea.
That way, you don't have to commit right up front, and if you miss the first one, go to the next one.
Its more of a people pleasing way.
I know I, as well as Morris will most likely be in Yogi both of those weekends. I can't speak for others, but a few other guys come to mind that would go twice to..

Weekend after memorial day is when the original meet used to be. I have to go to a wedding at the end of May in Missouri but I'll still be able to make it early June.

I'll probably only be able to go in June if at all. July is out of the question, too many things going on. Beach trips, parties, summer, etc.

morris 10-22-2012 08:45 PM

Ok, so should we shoot for 1st or 2nd week of June? Than maybe weekend before labour day as an unofficial meet?

You can only drive one truck at a time.

99offroadrngr 10-22-2012 10:19 PM

lol id be dumping money into it, fast.

i've already started a dunes fund so its ok

morris 10-22-2012 10:58 PM

Ok, so I'm proposing the second week of June. Do you mean the 6-8 weekend or the 13-15 weekend?

99offroadrngr 10-22-2012 11:21 PM

13-15 i think idk lol

I like the 2 meet idea. I will be down for one at least, if not both as im only 5-6 hours away. As long as i know a date a month in advance ill book it off and come down. Gotta find a dune flag and check what the rules and what not are in the park, ive never been before.

Pretty pumped for this, Cant wait to bomb around out there in some real sand with other rangers!

Wingman108 10-23-2012 08:58 AM

I would be game for a later trip, june im still working and have a wedding to go to

You can get a flag down there for a few bucks and if you need a mount, they have those too. Basically, don't drive the wrong way in certain areas that have huge wrong way signs and you can do what you want lol

places have airing up stations right outside the dunes and when i went it was free which is awesome. Its a great time

morris 10-23-2012 11:29 AM

Like the Kewn said. It's a donation though.

01RangerEdge 10-23-2012 11:43 AM

2nd week of June should work

StxDangerRanger 10-23-2012 03:58 PM

Yea, David Allen Racing (right outside dunes entrance) has flags for i think $10 bucks. I need to pickup a new one this year.
DAR also has free air to fill up with, (like Morris said) donation usually.

In addation, most of us will be camping this year and if we book early enough, we can get the back corner of Yogi again.

99offroadrngr 10-23-2012 04:13 PM

I'll still get a room for myself. I'm not driving that far and sleeping in a tent lol but that may end up changing if i pick up a bed tent!

I will however be walking there and back to my room at night though so I'll be drinking with you guys. I'll probably end up shotgunning beers at night

Me and Malydeen ended up walking to the corner store after putt putt one night, he went ham and drank a 30 of Ham (no lie) the first night.

I'll probably just bring my own again. I'm a beer snob.

I can only image it tastes like piss.

I'm not THAT much of a hipster. I was thinking like a Founders, or Bells 6 pack. maybe both. 5.6% gets you there quick.

morris 10-23-2012 05:38 PM

Pedro, you better stockpile coors and do a Smokey and the bandit run to SL. Justin can be the snowman. Lol
