Silver Lake Dunes August 5th-9th

Since it wont let me change the dates on the old thread I will make a new one.

Come for all of it or come for some of it. I will be there from 2:30pm on Wednesday Aug 5th through Aug 9th.

I will be in a Non-Electric site and I will be making my reservations tomorrow (6-8-09). I will tell them we are a group from Ranger Forums. Just say you are with that group and they will put us all in the same area.

The rates for the campground include one unit, 2 adults, and 2 vehicles. It is $7 per additional adult. If you wish to have 2 units per site they charge you for an additional Non-Electric site and wave the charge for additional adults.

All other important info is listed below.

State Park Entry
An annual pass to all Michigan State Parks is $24; a daily pass is $6. Non resident are $29.00 per year and $8.00 per day. Senior annual passes for $6.00. An ORV pass for vehicles (also required for access) costs $16.25 and is good for a full year. Non-residents will also need a "Sportsmans Pass" which is $1 and is good for life. The ORV pass can be purchased with CASH only. The ORV pass and Flags are available at any gas station in town.

State park permits must be purchased at the park. I would suggest cash because if there is no one at the gate you must purchase one from a ranger that is roaming the park.

Orange Flags are $20 and MUST be mounted on the front of the truck. Mounts are available for under $20 from the same places that sell the flags.

Go-Cart ridding so bring some extra cash to waste! LOL

You are responsible for your own camp site.

Responsible for your own FOOD!!!!!

You need a flag, orv sticker, and state park pass to get into the dunes.... ORV sticker and State park can be bought at the Dunes.

Wow those camping prices are ridiculous

ford4life Jun 7, 2009 09:07 PM

thats not 37 a night is it? And when it says fri-sat do we have to leave on sat or sunday before noon or whatever?

Toreador4x4 Jun 7, 2009 09:14 PM

yes it is $37 per night, hence why i got a hotel, it was like $30 more for a hotel, and i didnt have to bring a tent and camping stuff

04blackedge Jun 7, 2009 09:24 PM

Yeah bump that I'm going hotel too then

Ace Jun 7, 2009 09:33 PM

ya if i go again i think im gonna camp at a hotel lol

malydeen Jun 7, 2009 09:37 PM

Yeah the camping prices are high but the only place cheaper is the state park and they are fully booked and they dont allow alcohol.

Personally I'll take the camping. $37 for camping is better then $70 a night for a hotel. Remember this is peak season, part of the reason its so expensive.

The check out time is 1pm I believe.

Haha I paid $71 for 4 nights! We got lucky and hit the last weekend of the spring rates. We also got a stay 3 nights, get the 4th free.

Fenech627 Jun 7, 2009 09:46 PM

We should pitch a few tents and camp out!

malydeen Jun 7, 2009 09:53 PM

To the Minnesota guys:

Im leaving St Paul at 3:30AM on Wed Aug 5th. I will be speeding through Wi, I want to get out of there as quick as possible (even though I will be moving there a month to the date after this). Last time it took exactly 11 hours both ways. If Ace is coming we will be making a stop on the south side of Chicago before we hit Indiana. Blhde said he maybe coming so we may make a stop in Rockford too.

Hopefully we can get there at 2:30, have camp set by 4 and be on the dunes by 4:30!

Ranger_Guy15 Jun 7, 2009 10:22 PM

Sounds good. Whats your definition of "speeding"?

In WI the max speed is 65. In areas where I can see the median and under bridges I was going about 72-75. In areas where cops may like to be hiding I was doing 69 on the dot. Ive gotten pretty good at picking out where cops like to hide. Its rare that they surprise me anymore.

Oh and in Chicago the speed limit was 50...traffic was doing 70. I wouldn't try to do anything less then that or you will probably die.

haha yeah. When I ran up to Luddington I was doing 78-82, construction zone or not. There was no workers around and there want even work being done to the road. I hate when theres a construction zone and theres nothing being done.

ford4life Jun 7, 2009 10:44 PM

What i like about Mi is it is on 45 if there is workers on the site.

INT3RC3PTOR Jun 8, 2009 07:10 PM
