Silver Lake Dunes Spring/Summer Trip (June23-24)
#326
Alright... before I give any more thought into taking the Danger Ranger out onto the dunes, just how damn hard is it to get all of the sand taken care of?
I.E. do I need to due redundant stuff like diff fluid changes, stuff like that after a trip to SL?
Is there gonna be more sand packed into crevices and the brake drums if I were to be making rooster tails compared to just cruising around? Or is the wind gonna jam sand everywhere anyways?

Get a used one or find a decent new one off of Crutchfield for less money.
Big subwoofers and super expensive head units are stupid, IMO.
Heck, my dad likes his music, but we still didn't spend more than 400 or so bucks to deck out his entire car. He runs Kenwood 6x9's front and rear, that mom, my brother, and I bought him, and he bought the factory add-on six disc changer offered at Crutchfield. Superb sound, and tons of bass. And it still uses the stock head unit.
Best yet, no one is none the wiser since the Taurus looks completely normal (and boring) inside and out. No fancy head unit for some to see and break into the vehicle, and then rip the dashboard apart to get it out.

Pedro, no one has time for your tomfoolery on here...you dont need a radio...get in the truck and head west...away from people that say "cahhh" and "idear"
new guy kyle: I usually check all my fluids after and make sure i dont have any water, power wash the underside of my truck (and the paint, you do not want to touch the paint right after the dunes). You will always have remnants of the dunes (you will find sand when you work on your truck a year later) but the interior cleaning is the hardest part.
for everyone, locate your ABS fuse and air bag fuse before the trip to save time when airing down

Your not gonna be doing rooster tails w/ your 3.slo. I still have sand in my truck. I dunno if it's from year one, year two or a combo of them. Just make sure your fluids are good. Most recommend an oil change after and an alignment also.
What would you do for a trip to Bundy? Fluids, belts, minor maintenance things like that. Don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine.

I found sand working on the truck today... it seems to really like accumulating right on top of that fuel level sending unit and its locking collar, and in between the locking collar and the protective shroud that goes around the fuel lines and connector. Not sure if it's road sand or Silver Lake sand, though...

Then you might get a beer or two. Or maybe a half tank of gas... depending on my mood.

No. You must go to Silver Lake...
"You want to go to Silver Lake..."
I take it no one got the joke... if you have seen the movie called 'The Island' you would get it...

So little time.
I want to get a new tent. I pulled mine out the other day and went.
"damn, thats small"
I also need to find my Hibachi. or some sort of cooking device that i don't have to clean in order to use.
also also, Tires and wheels fit for running around the dunes on. I don't think SUV tires are going to cut it.
