Depends when it is, where it is. What day it is, etc, haha. You swapping out the 3.0 for a 4.0 and a new tranny i'm guessing? I will be on vacation up north until the 23rd. 24th I can do, but I have a paper to write for my class, so we'll see. I still need to do my BL too.

That means I have to write all or part of my paper on vacation, but I suppose I can do it, haha. Guess it depends on what John wants to do. If he wants to swap his motor/tranny out sooner than that, you guys can meet up before then, then we can meet up again on the 24th when I return to do my BL... I think Brandon said something about using his friend's garage for the BL. I don't care where we do it.

Where you get the MAPGAS part... you know a place and part number.. I'll pick it up if ya'll can help me do the BL, don't wanna have to use all your tools, haha. Bout to get a promotion at work, so not sure how long this BL will stay on anyway, may end up getting a SL sometime this summer. My family is flying out first thing on the 24th, so I'll available for sure. If we can knock it out kinda early, we can chill and do whatever later.

If I weren't all the way up in SF right now, I'd help for sure. Hope you get it figured out tho. I'd kind of be interested to see how this goes. Seems like some work, but you'll love that extra power of the 4.0. Gas mileage sucks, but worth it IMO. Good luck... keep us updated, start a thread of the swap with lots of pictures, haha.

already sucks as is. im usually pretty good at figuring out how to make things run more smoothly and efficient. im willing to bet ill get the same or better. i always felt like i was giving that 3.0 a lot of gas especial for a v6 that 24v taurus spoiled me. i used to get 35 mpg out of that thing. it was mostly used for around town but i did a TON of freeway driving in it. put 110k miles on it in like 3 years freeways where like the autobahn in my head. heavy traffic caused me to get REALLY bad mileage. so i guess im saying that unless i was always giving it the beans it was very efficient and the mileage was exceptional even at consistent high rotation for looooong periods of time. i digress, i need to some how go northwest and get my tranny and south west to get my engine i guess ima do the swap at my house. i think im going to need the engine wiring harness for a manual engine bc its diff from an auto one?

naw that would be kinda lame. we get ****ty mpg's as is i want to be the first to swap a v6 duratec. the same or better power as the 5.0 improved mpg over the 3.0 and weight reduction thanks to an all aluminum engine. aka what ford should have done in the first place, they didnt use the engine bc the 4.0 would be worthless...........they should have offered the sho v8 instead of the 4.0 but what to i know im just a painter. what do i know about what Americas working force need in a truck. after all if you dont have to spend money why not keep it in your pocket and make your loyal customers pay for it.

Ooo boy, just got back from vacation in NorCal... must say, it's NICE up there. Anyway, didn't check this thread for a while... forgot about meeting up on the 24th. Didn't have my keys for work anyway, and my wheels and BL were locked up at work, so it wouldn't have happened. Anyway, I'm up for trying to meet up one of the next couple of weekends if anybody wants to help me do the BL. John, what are the specs for the tranny you are lookin' for? You have a 96 3.0L, 2wd, correct? I've been craigslisting looking for one, but have had no luck. You try calling junk yards? And how much you looking to spend? haha, sorry, had a lot to get out.

Brandon, if you think it won't take a real long time to do. I'd be willing to drive up on Saturday. Maybe leave early, try to get there by 11am -ish? I just have to drive back down Saturday night, and be at work by 8 am Sunday, so the truck has to be up and running quick. Sucks having my days off on Fridays and Saturdays, not having a normal weekend blows.

Ah that's cool man, we can try for another weekend. I'm not dead set on this weekend... I'm really not in a huge hurry to get it done.

ive got a 95 3.0 ranger with a manual two wheel drive tranny. i still dont have a replacement and whats worse is ive wrecked the family truck bc some biker thought i wasn't going fast enough one rainy night long story short i put the rear end of the truck in an embankment so as not to kill the biker or myself and a car heading in the opposite direction. so if ne one knows where i can find the rear axle for a 2002 ram 1500 and the suspention along with it give me a pm. life is given me the shaft it seems. im down to help out with the BL but im stuck at home broke as hell and SOL.
