I don't get it, is that a picture of your truck overheating in the big line getting in meaning summer. or a nice girl on your hood in the sun meaning this why summer? :)

Due to Rob's tiny noisemaker arriving in June, we're hoping to go third or forth week of May.

The Campground opens up in April, so we'll get some exact dates closer to then.

Would anyone be up for the forth week (that ends in memorial day) or would more people prefer the week prior to it?

I wouldn't mind 4th week of may, But we're all not sure how Memorial day would be up there. It might be crazy, it might not.

I vote for memorial day weekend. 24th, 25th, and 26th would be perfect.

https://www.midnrreservations.com/SilverLakeStatePark

Looks like there is plenty of campsites still available.

What's the deal with the recreation pass on vehicles? Is that something you have to have?

We stay at the Yogi Campground in Mears. not even a mile from the dunes entrance.

If you plan to park a vehicle in the lot at the dunes entrance, you need a Recreation pass, you get them for $10 at the gate, or if you have an MI registration, just pay the $10 then for a Rec Passsport. You'll also need an ORV sticker if you plan on taking anything onto the dunes. Those are $16.50
You can get both of those items at the dunes entrance, but i'm pretty sure they're cash only.

****. I forgot about that.

in MI's infinite wisdom, they've refined and raised some licence prices.

Since the dunes is not a State Trail, it'll cost you $26.25 to get an ORV pass. I'm not sure about the recreation passport deal yet. This is part of the states plan to make new trails in MI and what not. They also re-did our hunting and fishing licences as well.

Yeah I want to say out of state ORV is like 40 now or 36.25. I read it somewhere. State Park pass which you will have to buy either for the year or per day is 18 a day or 40ish a year? Might be a little off on that too.

Its called a state park pass and you will need one for each vehicle\utv you take into the dunes or park in the parking lot. ORV is for anything you take into the dunes.

"State Park Recreation Passport" Link

Last year they told Lydeen he needed both to park his Chevy in the lot. I know we all had to have both the Rec Pass and the ORV sticker to get onto the dunes when we went.

They didn't get me until the last day. Then I got pissed off and may have sworn at the nice girl in the little shack.

Don't worry about the passes, it will be the smallest cost of your trip. When you get there, find one of us veterans and we can go to one of the shops in town and help you get everything. I am willing to give out my cell number if you want to meet me.

The other thing is you can get everything right at the park. We were told in the past if no one is at the gate, go in and head out to the dunes. If you see any DNR approach them and tell them you need passes, do not let them come to you or a ticket maybe in your future.

Yes, that was the recreation pass. How you got through the flag check the first couple days, I have no clue.

The date has been set as the weekend of May 17th!

Come for what ever you can. Most of us will be there Wednesday - Sunday, but there is a possibility of Monday - Sunday. If you can only make it for a couple days, awesome, we would love to see you there.

If you can make it then, great! If you can't go start another thread elsewhere, because this date isn't changing .

I have a good feeling I will be making another trip later in the year as well.

So for the list includes:

Me (possible significant other)
Alex (possible significant other)
Rob (Mike, Brad, Aaron, significant other)

Who else is in?
