Hey all. 2011 Ranger guy

Hey everyone! Im new around here and plan to contribute my opinion also! I use forums all the time to figure out stuff but this is my first time actually joining one.
I currently drive a 2011 Ford Ranger. Vista blue (dark metallic), 4x4, 4.0L, 3.73 gears w/ limited slip, 4 door extended cab. O yea, shes my baby!
One of my biggest disappointments was power output. I traded in my 2010 Mustang with the exact same engine for this Ranger. That Mustang would flat out haul a$$!!! Iv raced supercharged Grand Prixs, Monte Carlo SSs, and quite a few V8 trucks and beat em all! But my Ranger doesnt have near the get-up. I figured with the lower gearing, the take-off would be better? Maybe shes still not broke in yet? Just rolled 1600 miles and im already looking for a tuner. Any ideas on power adders?

Well the ranger has the 160hp 4.0 whereas the mustang has the 210hp 4.0.

Welcome to the site though!

^ Older 4.0's were 160ish... now they're somewhere around 207.

Welcome!

Either way, theyre right there together. Heck, even the rnager makes a few more ft lbs than the mustang. I believe the Stang makes 230 and the Ranger makes 235? I was looking at the supercharger from the infamous Ronald Caster. He makes a kit where you can bolt on an M90 and, with a tune, makes 50 more horses and 90 more ft lbs. I think im gonna save up and get me one of them!

If your gonna go with the RP caster kit I would suggest doing more then just the supercharger. I would get some of the internals built up so you can run more boost. Otherwise you could do a lot of damage.

the ranger motors a tad different in certain aspects I think. But anyways you are also pushing 4wd with the ranger. The mustang im sure is a little bit lighter, not much maybe 500 or 600 lbs. Welcome to the site though.

Internals sounds expensive lol. My Ranger only has 1700 miles on her. I probably wont do anything that in depth for a few more years lol.

I agree! I was wondering if a performance tuner would shut it off but I didnt know. You can push a button and "turn it off" but it will still stop you from sliding too much. Im a teenager! I need to slide!

You can turn it off completely. You have to hold it down. Light comes on then will turn back off. and then it will come back on a second time while your holding it. That turns all the bs off. If you only hold it till it comes on once it just turns off a couple things i think. Read the owners manual. Thats how i figured it out.

Thats whats goin on with me. It starts to rain, so I try to slide it around a curve only to slide for a second and catch traction. Or do a whimpy burnout at like 1500 rpm.....
