Hey guys! I recently just bought my first ever 1996 ford ranger splash edition, short box reg cab and Im in love with it! 2.3L manual (first time driving stick lol) with only 126,000km . Im hoping for lots of help on here as I'm new to this and really wanting to learn. Also, I'm not happy with a 4 cylinder and am planning to do lots of work to my new baby!

I have a 1997 Ranger a lot like yours. I've added a cat back exhaust and K&N air filter. I'm very happy with my 2.3L . If you want more power from you 2.3L Home has engine performance parts for 2.3Ls.

Welcome I have an XLT with 2.3L 5 speed rwd too. Looks very similar but mines the super cab and blue.

welcome! i hate to burst a bubble, but i would do some digging to make sure it is/was a splash. in 96, you should have been able to get the step side bed with the splash package, but that should have come with color matched bumpers, color matched power mirrors, color matched grill, and chrome 5 spoke wheels. the step side bed was an option in 97 without the splash package. oh, the other thing that pops out, the emblems on the front fenders. splash's didn't have the xlt under ranger. good looking truck though. it should last you a long time if taken care of properly!

My 1997 Ranger is a XLT flairside. I added the parts of the Splash package that I liked. 93/94 Splash stripes, 97 Splash body color grille and valance. I'm going to keep the chrome bumpers, black mirrors and aluminum wheels. I like the look of the chrome Splash wheels, I just don't like the way the wheels hold water after you wash the truck. I call my Ranger a XLT Splash because it a mix of Splash, XLT and some aftermarket parts.

IS IT A SPLASH TOO?

christ, i never said it as a slam. i was giving some insight just in case you weren't aware. you never mentioned that it was wrecked and parts were replaced. with an attitude like that, good luck getting much help around here!
