2004 Ranger 2.3L

I just got an 04 ranger 2.3L, bone stock. Im looking to turn it into a prerunner. I know (most likely) the 2.3 wont give me any power and im looking to do an engine swap. im thinking about the edlebrock ford small block performer, the one with 438hp. any other ideas or suggestions?
