Another East TN, Ranger Fan

Hello, Everyone, I recently purchased my second Ranger, a 2000 model 3.0 4x4 with 129,000 miles on it. The truck runs and drives like a vehicle with 50,000 miles on it. It has been maintained well. The biggest problem with this truck is that it was from upstate NY where there is lots of road salt use and it suffers from some serious rust. I did get a really good deal on it though. Everything else that I found in the same price range had 275,000 miles on it plus other problems mechanically and/or structurally.

My first Ranger was an 84' 4x4 2.3 that threw the timing belt at 69,000 miles. Since it was paid for the only option was to go big with a 5.0 C6 combo. I had the motor built and I installed and tuned a Holly Projection system. I also installed a 3" body lift and an aluminum 3 core rad. This truck had the flaky gray paint job from the factory, so I had I painted Bimini Blue and used cast aluminum 10 hole Craiger wheels with 32x11.50 Remington MT's. I will dig up some pics if anyone is interested.

I see that there are many members here from MI. I am originally from MI. in the Ludington area and my sister lives in Westland. I love the state, hate the winters.

Correction: I feel like an idiot, the 2k is my third Ranger. My second Ranger was a 91' 2.3 5 speed short box 2x XLT reg cab that I purchased new and ended up giving to my first wife when we divorced. I guess that I had blocked it from my mind. She still has it and I think it has around 130,000 miles on it. It still seems kind of un-natural to see her husband driving my truck around. Life goes on.

Hey, Zach, Yeah, I'm 30 min from Farragut straight down 140 Pellissippi Pky. My wife and I frequent the Turkey Creek Smoky Mountain Brewery at every opportunity. Yes, I love Silver Lake dunes but it's way to busy there in the last 10 or 12 years. Have you done the Tellico trial ride here? Or the Coal Creek ride up on the wind farm?

Tim, I sold the 84' 5.0 in 92' to my ex-brother-in-law who took it back to MI and drove it until he sold it in 06'. The only reason that I sold it when I did was due to it getting stress cracks developing through the body from twisting and flexing beyond what any vehicle should be exposed to. My ex-brother-in-law doesn't drive nearly as aggressive as I do, so it suited him just fine.

By the way I am a huge Jeep fan too. I have owned many Jeeps over the years; from a 43' Willis resto project and several TJ's to a Grand Cherokee.

Ryan, I will have to take my old pics to Walgreens and scan them to disc then I will post some pics.

Thanks Everyone,

Scott

If you ever have any problems with that 2000 let me know. I got the Ford Service/Shop Manual for that year and the wiring diagrams. Plus I live like 20 mins away.
