My 93 Ranger 5 speed recently suffered a catastrophic transmission failure. I bought this truck new and have been the sole driver for most of its 323,000 miles.
Upon removing the transmission from the truck and opening it up on the bench, I discovered that ALL of the teeth had sheared off of third gear and the input and main shafts were somehow fused together. It would appear that the bearing has welded itself to the shafts. These two shafts must be dis-engaged and tilted to remove from the housing.
Does anyone have a suggestion for separating the shafts?
