Automatic to manual trans swap,02 model.
Nuts and bolts part of project is complete. The shift position sensor is fixed in neutral, however, I have no idea how to get around the 3000 RPM limiter. Any suggestions?

REV limiter would be part of clutch switch wiring now, assuming you are using manual trans Computer(PCM) and wiring In below diagram it shows Grey/red wire and light Blue/black wire are connected in Drive on DTR Sensor, that should remove REV limiter used in Park or Neutral But PCM with automatic trans software can be hard to use with manual trans since there are no transmission solenoids connected to it it will want to stay in "limp mode" to protect a transmission that is no longer there Not sure if that would set REV limiter or not it would be software specific which can/does change yearly |

I have done the same swap on a 97' ranger and only had to fix the the shift position sensor in the neutral position. I have put almost 175 thousand miles on it since with no issues. The only issues with the 02 model is rims are limited to 3000 no matter which gear you are in or if it's in neutral. Surely there is a way around the limiter. Can you swap PCM with out changing the harness? |
Sorry my smartphone text changes rpms,to rims.
