Good at flying, but not mechanic

I am a retired Army CW4 (officer for all our civilian friends) and flew both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft for 40 years. (16 years as a contract instructor at the Army Aviation School, Ft. Rucker, Al.) Now, I enjoy my summers where the humidity is not so high, and my winters where the temps are not so low.

I love outdoor activities and do my share of fishing, hunting, and observing nature. I also help my wife with gathering cemetery data for her new book on cemeterys in Reynolds County. We have been 4 years in the summers getting the data for the first volume, and that is only half of the cemeterys. Now working on the second volume.

I enjoy my Ranger 4x4, and we use it exclusively on our expolration trips. Several times, it was the only way we could accrss the areas.
They are sometimes very remote.

I have been looking for a forum to get some advice on different areas of my Ranger. My major issue is suspension squeeking after fording a stream (while looking for an old cemetery. Is there any product for lubricate the suspension.

Welcome!

Is it your leaf springs squeaking? If so that happens, but i used to spray the leafs with I believe lithium grease spray. I can not remember exactly what it was.

Welcome. Squeaking is very annoying, my truck did that too. In my case it was due to a wheel bearing going out but that isn't too likely for you. I think it would help us most if you found out where the squeaking was coming from. If it's possible you can just use your hands to wobble your truck so that maybe the part will squeak while you are standing outside the vehicle.

But otherwise I usually just grab a can of WD40 and start spraying every part that looks like it can squeak. Fixes the problem for about a week.

Thank all of you who posted a reply. I have some lube to spray on the suspension, but a fellow who works in automotive had a similar problem. He went to Jiffy Lube, and they had the necessary equipment to inject lube into the boots. Said that resolved the problem.
