New to both Rangers and Fords

I'm gonna be buying a 1988 Ranger extended cab off of a good friend of mine and decided to join so I can figure out the best places to get parts and general questions. I'm planning on building it for moderate wheeling, but mostly to get in and out of the woods for hunting. I had a 1991 Jeep Wrangler a while ago, and understand a lot of the concepts, but a jeep is definitely different from a ranger.

both are capable rigs from stock. both have different versions of 4.0Ls.

there are a couple styles of jeep i would purchase. Cherokees (xj), postals, scramblers or Lj are what i like. the rest like the cj's and tj/yj's all look alike to me. i know there are differences and i know what some are but they just look alike. modded or stock.

know what you mean there. My YJ had the four angry squirrels under the hood tho. and the ranger i'm getting is outfitted with the old 2.9L and manual trans. If you wanted a jeep that was different from the rest, get any year TJ and get the AEV Brute pickup kit. Turns it into a 2 seater with an actual separate truck bed. If I had unlimited funds I would certainly drop the 10 g's on the kit.
