Ford poor...

but wouldn't trade them for just anything. Greetings, Gang. New here, obviously, but Fords have almost constantly been a part of my life since I was a kid, and my kids are growing up the same way. We have pretty much just RBVs' with a lone F150 flying the FullSize flag. 84 BII, 84 Ranger L/B 4wd, 90 S/B Ranger 2wd 2.3T, 91 Supercab Ranger 2wd, and a 94 "X". Like I said, Ford Poor, but still love 'em. Anywho, most of what goes on around here when we ain't farming, is simply having going wheeling in the woods out back, nearby, or down the road and taking the 2.3T 90 out to go stompin' on the "Rice Patrol" around here. ( It really IS amazing how many times the same idiots will try the same stunts .)

Welcome!

Backwoods "X" 01-30-2012 03:07 PM

Thanks for the welcome! I will get some pictures up shortly and most likely start a build thread or two, if that is okay, as I have a couple of the RBVs' under the knife right now. The BII is in the middle of a 6"lift/Explorer axle swap/ 34" LTB/ 4.0 with Eaton M-65 goodness, for starters. I am looking forward to having her (?) back on the road in early April, maybe sooner. The long bed 4x is getting ready to get a motor swap as the old 2.8 has gone from "running" to "do I REALLLLY have to start this time???" ( Any body for a 4.0 SOHC on 1st gen. elec. swap? )

Later. (I have to go check out the rest of here...)

Welcome

Long term Ford maniac here, father was working for Tractor Division from before I was born. I worked over 32 years for them, most of them building F series trucks at Kansas City Assembly Plant.
Presently have F250 4x4, Ranger Supercab 4x4, Escort, ZX2, and Focus. Have had bobtail Bronco, F150 4x4, Explorer, Mustang GT, etc. many, many trouble free miles.

Backwoods "X" 02-04-2012 10:16 AM

Question for you, there, shovelmike... If you bobtail a Bronco, just where, exactly, do you put the back seat??? Nice collection that you have going.

shovelmike 02-04-2012 06:43 PM

The Bronco I had was a 77, the last year of the bobtail, styled very spartan from the factory as a direct competitor against the International Scout. The back seat was right between the rear fender wells. I bought it brand new, and thought that 302 would deliver some decent fuel economy, best I could do was 12. It was a great snow vehicle, but the salt really disintegrated the body.

Backwoods "X" 02-04-2012 08:57 PM

Oh, okay. I understand now. You were referring to a having an "Early Bronco". I misunderstood you to mean that you had "bobbed" or boattailed a Bronco. Sorry. I had a 71 and a 68 EB for awhile, until the rust finally won. I enjoyed the 68 more, due to the 200/6 that it had. It didn't understand what "stuck" meant.

shovelmike 02-05-2012 05:41 AM

Yep, now we are on the same page! Those early Bronco's were great. I had the top off mine at one point and needed to go get mom at the airport, my son was about 5 sitting in the passenger seat, hair flying in the breeze, all the pretty girls along the way were honking and waving at him.
