Icon4 RE-introducing myself...

Time to come back, take the flak I deserve, and see (well, talk to) everyone again.

I owe some folks money for those controllers I never shipped, and I know some folks paid other folks back on my behalf (like Rev for instance). Thanks for that.

I shall stand for any flaming anyone feels like and I encourage the moderators not to filter it anymore than necessary as some folks will need to vent and I deserve it anyway.

On my Cardomain site page 25 has my SAS information, and I'll post some here as well.

Nice to be here, and Merry Christmas everyone!

I dont think anyone is that upset about the issue. Not that I have seen.

Welcome back. BTW since you have done a SAS now you need to check out my thread and the steering shaft. Not a good idea to run the stocker.

Griggs! Glad to have you back, we need more of the old gang (nothing against the new folks either btw).

Have a Merry Christmas! Oh, and tell us about the swap, with pics of course!

First: THANKS EVERYBODY!!!

Okay, Zach, I'll look that up. I didn't use but a piece of the stocker. I used the 3/4" DD end that goes to the steering wheel shaft, press fit it in the u-joint from a Chevy AstroVan and then welded it, welded that ujoint to a 3/4" solid rod, which was welded to a u-joint with a 3/4"-36 spline end to go to the 1979 F-150 steering box. I call it an example of "hillbilly engineering" but it seems pretty strong (so far...)

DD? I have read this else where but I am not sure what it means.

I thought mine was fine too, then it broke. lol

Here's the truck flexing for those of you who don't go to Cardomain -- that is if we can still link from there. It's been a long time since I tried it.

DD = "Double D" -- that is, a doubly flatted round shaft that looks kind of like 2 letter D's back to back.

Well, I will definitely be thinking about that. My intent is to still use some Borgeson or Flaming River parts to make a "real" shaft -- but money was very tight so I improvised.

John --

Welcome back! I didn't know you when you were last here (I didn't own a Ranger, then!), but I've read plenty enough here and elsewhere about you, your truck, and the long list of modifications you helped create/inspire. Glad to have you "back" on the forum.

...and, it's nice not being the only one around here that can solder worth a darn!

73 de AI4AI,
- Brian
