New from Orlando, FL

Hey everyone, i'm new. My name is Mark and I am currently living in Orlando, FL near UCF. I've lived in Daytona Beach, FL my entire life before I moved here for school.

I just purchased a Ranger a couple months back to use as a daily for when it rains. It's a '98 regular cab, 3.0, 5-speed, 4x4 with 230k miles... Supposably the previous owner replaced the engine, transmission, and clutch about 40k miles back. I'm not sure about that, but I picked up the truck for $1,900. Runs good, the body is straight and there is only minimal rust which is all on the tailgate.

So far i've used this forum to figure out what that annoying dinging was (airbag light was blown), searched about lifts and tires, and learned much, much more about this little truck. I'd be interested in meeting up with some locals if there is ever any meets or whatnot. I've been DYING to go offroad haha.

Anyways, here are some pics of the little truck.

When I went and picked it up:

Back home with my bike:

Took the topper off (for sale btw lol):

I like it so far. It has it's little quarks, but overall is pretty nice. The a/c stopped blowing cold so that's priority currently... I would like to swap off the front lighting to something new and not yellow, put a small body lift on, black rims with 33's and that's about it I think.

Could be. I'm right near UCF. They all kinda look the same though.

all I know is it was winter park hah. I loved it there tho, started looking for a place before I left...but that wont happen lol

sounds like you have some good plans for your truck. I think black rims with a polished lip would look mint on there! that color is one of my favorites that came on rangers.

Yea I like black wheels on blue. I think it's a good look.

Anyways, I tried going off-roading last night for the first time. Apparently my 4wd doesn't work... The lights on the dash come on and I hear it clicking behind the dash, but nothing happens with the front tires. When I click it into 4lo, the gear reduction happens, but only to the rear tires. So yea I drove 30 minutes from home to get stuck before I even got to the "spot" within a minute of being on the trail lol. Yay for sugar sand.

This is the hole that my friend pulled me out of. It was easily 8-10" deep lol. It took a big 'ol Duramax to get me out and then he had to drag me all the way out of the trail b/c I couldn't get momentum :(

So add fixing my 4wd to the never ending list of stuff I need to fix on this thing.

So if I do the AVM manual hubs, I will always have 4wd if I engage it on the dash and manually locl the hubs correct?
