Hello Ranger Forums!
Hello everyone, I joined a few months back but I never got a chance to post an introduction! I drive a '97 Ranger XLT (with the 2.3) with 162,483 Miles on the clock. My dad bought it new in Jan. Of '98 and after he bought a new car about 7 years ago, it ended up as our third car. Now I daily drive it to school, work, and for fun. Dad and I always keep the interior pristine, and the outside is almost perfect. See you on the forums!
There she is. And yes, it's 2WD :(

Welcome to the forum
Sweet looking Ranger for sure
1997 was the last year for the 2.3l SOHC Lima engines in Rangers
In late 2001 Rangers got the 2.3l DOHC Duratec engines, no relation between the two 2.3l's except displacement.
So just a heads up if you Google search using "Ranger 2.3l", you will get info on BOTH types of engines

At 162k miles it may have just got a new timing belt........or may need a new one soon
80k was recommended change time for timing belt on these engines.
It is a non-interference engine, so valves can never hit pistons, i.e. broken timing belt will leave you stuck where it happens but no engine damage will occur.
