Firsttimer

I am from West Texas and am the proud owner of 1997 fd Ranger ext. cab with a 2.3 4 banger. I am looking for some help on a P1443 code. I have replaced the purge valve, thurmister, vaccuum lines and the cannister does not have any leaks. I replaced the fuel cap and the fuel filler hose. I have reset the light by disconnecting the battery and letting set for 5 hours, the light came back on after 30 miles, had Auto Zone reset the light, came back on after 5 miles. I was at the Ford house today and they told me that the problem could be the Pressure Control Valve that is on the gas tank, but that ford does not stock that part anymore and cannot order one because it is discontinued. I checked with two part houses and one had the part and I ordered it, but it is not the same that is on my tank. Mine only has a vaccuum line to it, theirs had an electric line to it. I have not been able to find a part store that can order one like I have. Can anyone give me a clue as where to look, or if this could even be the problem. Love the truck, 102,000 miles of great service until now! Sure would like to get rid of that pesky light!

Does not effect the running, still get 23 mpg on the road, hate to get rid of the light in case something else happens that could cause harm.

Thanks, the diagram will be helpful. I have replaced everything but the fuel vapor vent valve and I am trying to find that now. Let you know how it goes! Thanks again.
