Tire problems

hi everybody, so i recently bought some new 20" rims for my ford ranger.. The back tires do fit perfectly, but in the front two wheels theres two little round shaped pieces sticking out of the center of where you mount the rims so once its on and the bolts are on the center cap or lid of the rim doesntt go all the way in... the guys at the tire shop said it was like the tire grease holder and that it could be taken off but the grease might later spill and kind of mess up my rims so whats recomended to do??? or if i take them out is there something else i could buy to put back in there to hold the grease

I think you could use a spacer on the front, or have the rims machined to fit over it. I think hes having the same problem that some people have with either mustang or jeep rims.

Yea...what you are talking about is the "dust cap" on the hub of a 2wd ranger. Behind that cap, is grease which lube your wheel bearings. Yea....YOU DONT WANT TO TAKE THAT OFF.

Either...

A: Use a spacer so your wheels will fit over the cap.

B: Machine the hole on the wheel in order to fit the cap.

If a wheel is designed for a car, usually the wheel won't fit a truck because of the "hub"/dust cap on the front.

If it helps, my brothers '01 coil sprung ranger needed a 7/16" spacer and longer studs in order to fit '01 Mustang Cobra wheels. Usually when guys put on 20's on their Rangers, they use a spacer.
