Looking to buy ranger
Hello guys my name's Charlie I'm from Texas. I've always been a fan of Ford and own a 96 f150. I'm looking to add a ranger. So long story short I've found one at a dealership, it's a 2008 Ford Ranger super cab XLT with 47,000 miles. I checked out the vehicle and it seems to be well kept and in good condition. The only thing that stands out is I noticed the clutch was engaging and disengaging quite quickly. Like at first it would stay on for a minute or two. Then at times it seems like it's cycling on and off every couple of seconds. The air seems to stay running cold and doesn't get warm. I researched and after asking friends for advice I got mixed info. Some say it's normal others say it's likely it's low on freon. The dealer of course doesn't want to check if it's low just because it's still blowing cold air. I was able to get them down to $10,000 for the truck. Any advice on the A/C issue and whether it's still worth 10k for the truck would help. I REALLY REALLY want the truck. Lol

Buyer beware
Hey Charlie, welcome to the group. This site is loaded with info and great members that know their stuff, take your time and read the posts. I’m in Louisiana and like Texas it’s hot and humid so a/c is a must. Clicking on and off that quickly is not normal and a sign of a problem. I’m not knowledgeable on a/c’s but I am very much about dealerships, salesmen and how to buy a vehicle. I’m on my 4th Ranger and I buy em right to start off on a good foot. The dealer should have NO problem checking Freon. I would require it, because in my 4 rangers putting over 450,000 combined miles on them, I never had to add Freon to any of them and never had an a/c issue. In fact, Ford’s bring more money in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and west Texas because the a/c’s are one of the best and coldest a/c’s.
They shouldn’t leak - ever.
Let me know if I can help.
