Looks like I'm the second new member from Indiana today
Just bought my first pickup less than a week ago.
'97 Mazda B 2300
4x2
5-speed
Extended cab
mid-90k miles
A little less rust and scars than expected for a 20 year old truck.
There doesn't seem to be anything hugely wrong with the truck--just the usual wear items, aside from a scraping noise (I assumed it was the drum brakes, but I pulled the drums off today, and the shoes and springs look like they were done pretty recently.
Anyway, I've wanted a truck since I was a kid. A little over 15 years ago, my dad taught me to drive in his 5-speed, mid-size truck (Sonoma), so I felt right at home sitting in Rangers when I started looking at them.
Quick bio:
I'm 30, married for a few weeks shy of 10 years, 2 kids, a high school teacher (my username is a play on a quote from Hamlet, my favorite Shakespeare work), and (along with trucks), I enjoy working on and riding motorcycles, having a few drinks with good friends around a fire (or, well, anywhere), and a wide variety of music.
As this first post shows, I'm also quite long-winded. Consider yourself warned, I suppose!
Thanks for building this community. I look forward to contributing (and pestering everybody with questions, I'm sure). I've already gleaned a ton of useful info from the boards here, and I haven't even been driving and wrenching on my truck a week yet!
