Hi all... Just another newb that just acquired a '99 Ford Ranger. It's a basic XLT 4-door Supercab with abnormally low mileage. I'm very pleased with it. I'll try to get some photo's up of it shortly.

And here it is:

Quick low down - Ford Ranger XLT in green, sport appearance package, tinted windows, 4.0L OHV motor, 5 speed auto, AC, step side box, bed liner, and only 97,000km.

Now, there is one odd thing... I have no idea how this was done, I can't find the electrical connector for the DPFE... And yet, it's not connected! Even more odd is that there is no active or stored code indicating a problem with the EGR system. I'm open to any idea on if I should do anything about it, esp. given that there is emissions testing where I live (though it passed inspection).

Hey! Always nice to see locals!

Yea, I have no idea what to think of it... I checked Rockauto, and the plug portion is identical to the photo's, so I'm pretty sure it's the correct DPFE. But it's not connected and I haven't been able to find any spare electrical plugs in that area.

Well, I've been pondering pulling the intake - I do have a very small coolant leak somewhere at the top rear portion of the motor . The reservoir is gone down 1/2" over the last three days, and I do see a drip. Maybe that will shed some light on that. But the big puzzler - shouldn't I be seeing a check engine light and be seeing a code on my scanner with it unplugged?
