Hello everyone!
I just left another Ranger forum site in disgust because a couple wise guys chastised me for comments I made....I won't be going back there again! That's why I searched and found this site!
Before I continue I want to thank Rick for the warm welcome!
Now to business....I've been having many problems with my 1999 Ranger 4.0 v6 (I won't be posting a pic...I'm technology challenged!) most of which I have solved through trial and error but i still need assistance with one more....my after-market tachometer is currently signal-less because I removed the signal wire to help determine where my engine misfires were being caused....turned out I just needed the proper spark plugs...I replaced motorcraft platinums with Autolite Iridiums and voila'....no more misfires!
Now I need to know from one of you who comes back with the best answer where to securely connect my tach signal wire for optimum results. I had it attached to the coil pack power plug peacemeal which only gave partial deflection (something like 50% of actual RPM's and also which was exposed to maintenance abrasion and almost destroyed one wire) so after repair of the coil pack plug I am looking for a better installation point for that tach signal wire.....any suggestions?
Anyway; the Iridiums are running great!
