im new to the site but i got a big problem i got a blown headgasket

im new to the site but i got a big problem i got a blown headgasket

Well i got everything pulled off except the head i need to know what do do with the cam so it doesn't move or what the trick is to getting it back in the right spot after i put it all back together. it is a 2000 ranger with the 2.5 4 cylinder any help will be greatly appreciated

Welcome. It will have to be timed when it is reassembled. So no reason to leave the cam in a certain spot. Unless 2.5 is different than everything else I have worked on

ya but how do you time something without a distributor the only motors iv done headgaskets or stuff like that are old v8s with distributors and the cams in the blocks not the head. so i dont know how to put it in time

Line up the crank with the timing mark with number on at tdc, and line up the cam with timing mark

probably going to have to remove or adjust the cam sensor which is basically the new version of a distributor. best thing to do is make marks of where everything is and make sure to line them up when ur done.
