new guy from PA

hey everybody! i'm the new guy from PA. i have a 96 ford ranger splash. i need some help with some tires. my stock rims are 14 inch rims and i want to go with bigger tires since i'm putting on a 3 inch body lift. in order to get 31 inch tires or 33 inch tires (whichever is better, you tell me) do i need to go with bigger rims? or can i keep the stock rims? i have a tight budget of about 500 to 1000 dollars. any help is greatly appreciated! thanks and hope to hear from everyone.

Hey welcome to the forum. I dont think you are gonna find to many tire choices if any in the size you want with a 14 inch wheel. your best bet is to get 15" wheels. It will open up your tire choices. Which tire size, somebody else will have to answer that as im not that familiar with older 2 wheel drives.

Welcome from Kutztown!

Best bet would be to get a 31x10.5x15 all-terrain tire and find some stock 15" wheels

i have 2.3L 4cyl automatic and the previous owners and i have not done anything with the gears so whatever stock gears are is what i have.

Welcome to the site.

The rims aren't the problem, it's the tire size that is the problem. For that combination of engine and gear ratio, you're better off getting the 31's instead of the 33's, it will be pretty slow with the 33's unless you change out the gears - which will probably be more than you're budgeting for.

if your going to run 31-10.50-15 this should be alright, any bigger you might want to upgrade to 4.10.....welcome and good luck!
