New Member and have a ?

Hi how is everybody doing. I have a 91 2.3 4cyl. 2 wheel drive, it's a rough looking one but it runs good. I bought a 88 ranger 4X4 king cab trying to get it on the road. it has a 2.9 in it thats lock up. I was wondering for a short time If I could put a 2.3 4cyl. in it till fix the 2.9 V6 I have a spare 2.9 but it needs work. What changes if any to the computer needs to made.

looks like we're all full of welcomes, but no answer to your problems. i'd consult with a dealer. i'm not really good with programing CPU's. if its an auto, your DEFINITLY going to have to reprogram. i left that to WAYNE and the xCAL. best of luck!

i would just drive ur 4cyl till u get the other 2.9 fixed ur guna put so much time putting a 4cly into a v6 truck that ur guna have to reverse when u go to put the other motor in i would just wait and run the 4cyl and get better gas milage then when other motor is ready put it in dont try and swap around waste of time.

thats my 2 cents lol that what i would do atleast

Welcome to the sight

That's what I might do, keep the 4 cyl. on the road. I thought it might not be to much work I leave up a hill and in bad weather (freezying rain and snow) I have to walk.
