new and could use advise!

hi my name is Zach i'm new on here i read up on a few things and they have been tremendously helpful. A 01 ford ranger was the truck i got when i got my license and i still drive it today. the poor thing was a work truck in its previous life for an elevator company i believe. Since i've had it i haven't done anything since its only the 3.0 and i was always hoping to trade up for a 4.0 manual, but thats not going to happen anytime soon so now i would like to put some money into it make it more suitable fore off roading while still being an every day driver. any suggestions to get me started?
