Just got a 99 ranger... time to sign up for a forum!
It seem like every time i get a new car one of the first things i do is find a forum I like and sign up...
Ive lurked on both here and fordrangerforum and i like the people, the layout and the theme better over here, so here I am!
I just picked up a 99 ranger 3.0l Ext cab 2wd auto with around 150k on it last week.
I bought it fairly blind (no mechanic check) from a private party, so i got an OK deal on it. It had a check engine light on, so i made the guy come to autozone with me to get the code, Turned out it was P0401... so i overplayed it a bit and talked him down 700$.
I fixed the P0401 code in 10 mins with a new DPFE sensor, took it to the mechanic that i had a really good coupon floor and got a full inspection, coolant flush, tranny flush and oil change for a little over 200$
In the inspection, he found out the tranny fluid pressure was low coming out of the transmission cooler. He said it could be a blockage, or something up with the tranny. He said it would cost more to fully diagnose, but if the pressure was fine upstream of the cooler, it would be 550$ to fix.
So, im not addressing that problem quite yet, he said it would be fine to drive on, but if it gets worse i run the risk of burning up the tranny.
So anyway, also got some seats out of an 05 and threw in there, and stuff for a basic stereo setup is on the way.
So hopefully ive got a ranger that will get me around for a bit for fairly cheap. If anybody has any input on that tranny issue, i'd appreciate it.
