RICOSUAVE1

Hey all, I am new to this forum and have a lot of questions. But I have plenty of time to ask. First of all, I have a relatively stock 2006 Ford Ranger Sport 4.0, 3.55 gears posi. Torch Red with 14" X 7" American Racing wheels ("Old School") factory Double Din am/fm CD/cassette Pioneer radio. The Ranger has 100K miles but still runs like new! Moved from Houston, Texas to Hesperia, California last year and not only towed a 16' FunFinder travel trailer over but went back and towed a a borrowed car hauler (2000# plus with my 1957 Ford Country Sedan (6 passenger station wagon) Big Wagon for you youngsters! over to Ca. Boy does this truck have ability! I now would like to give it a little more umph, but at the same time keep mileage close to the 19-22 mpg it gets now around town. I was wondering about the best chip/module available for it that will allow me to return it to within smog specs (you know, California) but give it more kick. It would be be nice to get it within the 250/275 H.P. range. Also, what is the turnsignal or "blinker" mod? Thanks for listening to my rant. Happy Holidays to all from SoCal and the mountains. RICO.

To get those kinds of horsepower numbers, supercharging it sounds like your best bet.

agreed^ and hauling with 3.55's must suck, 4.10's would be more ideal

Well, supercharging would definitely be a way to those numbers but a bit radical in cost. I suppose I'll consider raising the numbers by just allowing the h.p. that is already there to be released such as underdrive pulleys, chip or module, which seem to be a little allusive for the Ranger, headers, and induction mods, and removing the viscous drive fan in favor of dual electrics, etc. As far as the rear gearing, 4:10's would be great but my motto has always been you gear for the driving that you do primarily...Not temporarily! At today's fuel prices a 4:10 ratio would be prohibitive, and for little reason when not pulling or taking the Ranger off-road which in my case is rare. Good suggestions for future mods would be appreciated never the less, as far as product recommendations from those with hands on experience. Thanks to all who replied. Also, I failed to mention earlier that I have 2 into 1 out to 2 exhaust, via Flowmaster muffler. After the computer got used to this arrangement the Ranger was really peppy, compared to stock. I just need a little more fine tuning which with my moving and work schedule I haven't had the time to accomplish as yet. Feel free to comment or advise as all recommendations will be both appreciated and considered. Thanks again all. Rico.

What noticeable advantage did you feel with the throttle body spacer and air filter replacement? Rico.
