Ranger Owner finally!
Hello, I'm new to the forum.
A couple of months ago I decided to get a truck for a couple of reasons, one being that it's useful to have something to haul things around in, and the other being that my 16 year old son is driving and a third vehicle is practically a necessity. My dad had a couple of Rangers--a 97 XLT Supercab I think, which he replaced with a 2011 4x4 XLT Supercab that he loved. In fact, when he passed away I should have bought it from my stepmother--but I already had two other gas guzzlers and my son was still 4 years away from driving. (I'm kicking myself now for that!)
Anyway, came across a 2003 XLT Supercab 4.0L with about 110K miles--two owners but all in the same family. It needed new shocks and a new tire to pass inspection, and the only other thing I've done so far is replace the fuse for the A/C clutch and replace the dashboard lights (Which looking through these forums helped me do in both cases!) It looks pretty good from the outside, needs a little TLC inside which my son and I are working on--things like cleaning, replacing the cruise control switch, and repainting the rubber-coated center bezel piece in some way.
Eventually, I'd like to replace the wheels as it has the stock ones with the hub cabs, although I'm not sure how good a move that will be considering the mileage. But it's going to need three other tires eventually, so it's probable that I will do that!
