Should I..?

Hey guys.

I used to own a 4-door Ranger. Not much power (4 banger 2.3L, very reliable, and tons of fun to drive and ride... I did amazing stuff on that rig, mud, dirt, floodings, etc...

But I traded it for a Nissan Pathfinder 2001. More comfortable, better ride, lots of power... But it just does not have that 'wow' effect, you know?

Now, the question is... Should I go back to a Ford Ranger? 2000 4x4 Supercab. Very well taken care of...

Pros: 4x4
Con: No room for family, but I do own a 05 Mitsubishi Lancer.

If you have any opinions, please share them.

Thanks!

If you can get another 4 door, I would go that route. Only problem is.. those trucks are different than what most people on here are used to seeing, so we may not be able to help out, and there might not be as much aftermarket for it.

If you really don't need the space for family, the 4x4 supercab could do just fine, and you can find all of your answers and parts just like you could for our american versions.

From the engine to the driver's seat, my former Ranger was just like a US Ranger. The only main differences were the rear brakes (11 inch) and the Dana 44 rear axle.

I am usually driving alone... I keep wondering if it makes sense to go from a SUV to a Supercab Ranger...

Having a truck bed can be handy.

SUV = soccer Mom
Truck = independent Guy

LOL, just kidding, but small pickups are just more fun to drive than an SUV, so I guess it comes down to what you want vs what you should have.
Responsibility has it's down side, kids and family are worth it, more WOW there than any vehicle, but it still has the downside

Hahaha! I know what you mean. Trucks, and specially Rangers, are tons of more fun. Getting a real 4-door Ranger again is out of my budget, that is why I am considering a supercab one...

My vote is get the ranger! Then again you are on a ranger forum, so the answer to your question is going to be a little biased.

True that. Yet, a couple of years ago I saw some guys go from a Ranger to Cherokees, F150s, and my 4-door truck was very useful to me, but I got a good offer for it so I sold it.

Just wondering if there is some other Ranger user out there who happened to be in the same position I am in right now...

Ford Ranger it is. Sorry I am just a Ford enthusiast. :P

Sadly, the Ranger got totaled a couple of days ago. He told me a semi got on his lane apparently because the driver didn't want to hit some animal on the road, switched lanes to where the Ranger was and hit the truck on its side, sending the truck off the road, and hit a ditch. One of his buddies was driving the truck. He is OK, just minor bruises, but he said the front end was effed and the frame was twisted, air bags went off... :sad:

Our american Rangers after a certain year got 11" brakes.

Myself, I'd go with another 4door ranger if I was in your shoes with a second car.

I'd go with a 4-door ranger too. But I really know nothing about them. ie options, available engines, etc.
