Just Another Newbie!

Hi folks! I'm just another newbie to this forum from Charlotte, NC--having joined just today. Already, though, I can see lots of benefits from joining it. As for me, although I learned to drive on the Ford my dad owned, prior to recently I have not owned a Ford vehicle since Ford made cars and trucks with flathead engines. Yup, that tells a lot about me. In short, I'm just a little bit older than dirt! So what have I driven all these years since my misspent youth? Just about everything non-Ford...though I never had anything against Ford. For the most part I've owned sports cars--lots of Porsches, Corvettes and even a Ferrari Dino. I still have a sports car--a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport, but I also recently decided that I need a more useful vehicle for home ownership jobs. A truck, I thought, is what I need to pick up pine straw etc. for the yard, as well as for carrying things that just don't fit in a sports car. I have always been mechanically inclined and even worked summers during my college days in the shop of an Oldsmobile dealership. Doing most of the mechanical work and maintenance on my own cars, I have also often worked on vehicles belonging to friends and neighbors. The one thing I learned in these endeavors is that there is no truck like a Ford truck. So when I went truck shopping a short while back, it was a no-brainer that I'd be buying a Ford. For my purposes I needed a small truck. You guessed it, a Ford Ranger is what I now own. It's a 1996 XLT with 112K miles on the clock. Despite its age and mileage, it runs great and serves my purposes perfectly. I do want to do so preventative maintenance on it, however, and have posted a request for advice on replacing its timing belt on the technical forum. I won't repeat the details here, though, since anyone reading this can go there to see my post. OK, enough for this introduction. Hopefully I've not already turned off potential friends by my verbosity. Thanks for caring enough to read this post.
