    Nice, started on mine a few weeks ago. Hopefully you can give a little guidance along the way. Did you get your fenders from Fiberwerx or McNiel Racing. Have the same style of rear one on the Bronco. Thanks. Phillbilly.

    hi i read your thread on the fx4 shifter i was wondering will the knob thread onto the regular xlt lever ? cause i would like the set up i cant fork out 350 bucks on just the looks so i was think of using that knob and powder coating the stock lever and then swapping out the rubber boot for a jc one

    hi, i have an 01 4x4 and am lookin into a build similar to yours, kinda wanna do it as cheap as i can if possible, not going to do much heavy running with it until i buy a fullsize. ive been talking to interceptor and he sent me a link to his initial build, wonderin if you could do the same or if ya have any input as to where to start and what to do. where im from most people lift, i kinda want to avoid that but some height would be nice, maybe 3-4" if possible. thanks again, -Tyler

    The Basics

    My truck started life as a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. I bought it stock in 2002 with 79,000 miles on it. Over the next couple years it went through a variety of suspension mods, including but not limited to white rockets, Camburg "Shock Upgrade", and finally the DBR LT kit.

    Front Suspension

    The front suspension is the Dixon Brother Racing LT kit. I purchased the kit back in May of 2005 and installed it myself with the help of friends in the driveway. I am running Sway A Way coilovers with 18" 600lb Eibach springs. The front is also running Fox 2.0 bump stops shortened to 2" stroke. The front axle shafts are custom made by DBR and use 930 inner CV's. The knuckles have a custom gusset on them that I designed and built that is fully TIG welded along with custom heim steering. Bumped/Strapped at 14" of travel.

    Rear Suspension

    The rear suspension consists of a Giant 4-Link utilizing their WIY trailing arms. The lower trailing arms are fully TIG welded. The upper links are equipped with FK JMX16T 1 1/4" heims at both ends. The rear shocks are all Sway A Way and include 2 16" x 2.5" coilovers running 300lb/400lb Eibach springs, 2 16" x 2.5" Tripple Bypass shocks, and 2 2" x 4" bump stops. Sway control is done by way of a Sway A Way sway bar with BMS (Beaumont MotorSports) designed sway bar arms and 4130 Chromolly links. Bumped/Strapped at 26" of travel.

    Rear Axle

    The rear axle is a junk yard (literally) Ford 9" out of a 70's Ranchero. It has the Giant WIY truss kit and link mounts welded on, a Currie weld on skid plate, 11" Ford Explorer Disk Brakes, Stainless Steel brake lines, and it is stuffed with Currie 35 spline axle shafts, a 35 spline Detroit Locker, 4.56 Sierra Gears, and a Strange Nodular third member with a billet 1350 yolk.


    The truck has a full roll cage from the dash back built entirely out of 1 3/4" .120 DOM tubing, with some 1 1/2" .120 DOM used as braces in two or three places. It has a full factory interior including headliner, carpet, dash, working AC and heat, working stereo and full doors. In addition to that it also has a pair of Beard Ultra Pro II seats, Crow 3" padded 5-Point harnesses, and a Parker Pumper and two 2.5lb fire extinguishers for good measure. I also have the capacity to carry up to 5 gallons of water in two Rompalicious (don't laugh, they are actually really cool) water sacks (basically giant camel backs).
