cinderblocks dont really weight too much. i would think you would need to fill your entire bed to get the same weight at a few bags of sand. i could be wrong though,

but i agree with downey, your best bet would be to just go to the store and buy some

just use sand. if you get in an accident do you really want a cinderblock coming through the bed at you? you must be pretty rough on your bed during the winter for them to break as well, ive been using the same 3 bags since i bought my 98, and that was back in 05

you dont want to use block unless you tie them down. flying objects in a crash. i always used cat liter in the paper bags. once it gets wet it holds the water and freezes. ends up weighting close to 75lbs a bag. you also want to strap then down.

Are Ranger really that bad in the snow? I figured since it was 4WD, I didn't need to worry about this.

lmao. thats some funny shyt. go slide your truck a bit to get a feel, even with 4 wheels spinning you can have some fun and get into trouble faster then you know.

plus, since when do cinder blocks give you traction in a pinch??? at least sand can be spread if needed for added traction... cinder blocks, not so much...

build a cage out of 2x4s and make it so each section hold one bacg, then cover it so you can still use the bed

haha yes this is a real thread....

the reason why i dont want to use sand bags is because they split open and made one hell of a mess....

is a 2WD bad in the snow???? Hell ya its like a fat kid in a medal sled... and no im not fat... haha you wanna see how bad it is ill take ya out for a drive.

I was planning on making a 2x4 cage for them...

I just put my snow tires on about 40mins ago, right now my summer tires and rims are sitting in the back, but it defeats the purpose of keeping the summer rims out of the snow. granted they are only FX4 rims but still.

thank you guys i really appriciate it.

All I have is all terrain tires. I have never needed or used any extra weight in the back. And yes intentionally sliding out the truck will get you into trouble quick.

if you drive sensibly then you really shouldnt have a big problem. If you add weight and still find the need to go out and slide around its just more weight you have to try and stop if something goes wrong. I have never added weight or nor do i want to because i am used to driving the truck unloaded why would i want to add weight to my truck giving it a different feel when im driving in hazardous conditions?

Hey, just an idea for weight, since i know what you mean with the sand bags (I went to college 4 years in oswego, ny)... so I know about the snow. The weight really did help my ranger make it though the snow.

You can hit a scrap yard and find a large piece of steel, such as a 1/2" plate or something and have them drop it right in the bed of the truck. It is just an idea, I knew a guy who did this in a Dodge ram 1500, the truck drove alot better.

Why dont you go to walmart and they have these black Rubbermaid containers with a grey lockable lid on it. Then you dont even really need sand bags you can just put whatever inside and latch the lid closed. Use a ratchet strap to keep if from sliding and you are good to got. No sand Spillige.

I would just build a small frame and throw a few sand bags in it. I like sliding around though haha but whats good is that if i need it, the 4x4 is there
Or what ben said, that seems like the better route
