Fiberglass fenders/bedsides for a street/mud truck

II live on the east coast, so with no prerunners rolling around I've never seen the glass fenders on a Ranger. My big worries are that first of all it might look stupid and I might hate it. The second problem I have is that I own a stepside, so with my bed not being quite as wide as a normal truck I'm not sure if glass bedsides will fit properly (I'm planning to get the Glassworks Unlimited bedsides that allow me to retain my bed, I'm not going with a bed cage).

Now, my question is if the truck would look stupid without the widened front track provided by the Dixon LT kit. I don't have that kind of cash to throw around for a lift I don't need. So, for the purpose of tucking 35s under a truck that will primarily be seeing mud and asphalt, do you guys think the glass will look good?

Also, with the 35s will I still get proper articulation? Or should I go with 33s to allow more clearance? I don't want my tires to rub even at full flex.

My truck is black and I want black 15" rims, so these are as close as I can find to what it will look like:

its not gonna fill up the fender wells unless you go with 15x10 wheels with 33 or 35x12.5. Even then its not gonna look right without the widened track. I am going through the same thing, I love the prerunner look but I just flat out cant afford 10,000 for a whole front and rear setup.

The only other option is to use wheel spacers...

That truck looks great. Gotta have those wide tires and rims to make it look right.

I should also mention that the rims I'm looking are Cragar 905 Defenders. 15x10" with 3.75" of backspacing, so that should make the tires stick out a little farther. Basically they are a Soft 8 with non-functional beadlocks (since you can't run true locks on the street).

I checked around a bit, Hannemann doesn't list any bedsides for '04+ trucks.

I also checked FiberwerX, Glassworks Unlimited, US Body Source, and Autofab. None of them list bedsides specifically for stepsides, although all of the ones that carry '04+ bedsides have a short bed option available.

Might just have to find someone local with a black truck that wants to swap beds (I'm getting sick of the stepside anyways). Mine is in pristine condition with the body line and a bed liner. Might either sell the ARE tonneau I have or throw it into the bed swap if I do, depending on circumstances.

you guys don't think it will look right without the added width? even with only a 3 inch bulge? i want to do this to my 02 fx4 so that i can fit 33's with no rub and not needing a BL or a superlift. it seemed like a decent way to navigate around a lift and still fit the 33s but if its gonna look really dumb then i might not... more opinions please!

3in bulge would be ok, but still going to need a 12.5 on ate least an 8" rim. you could also achive the slightly wider look with a big offset, spacers would work but can make your front end components not last aslong.

as for the clearance issues stated above, with the fiber feneders in general the openings are a bit bigger and you have alot less of a chance to rub. especially if you dont have LT. if you intend on keeping the front bumper and valance i can tell you that you will rub, however fiber fenders and stock bumper and valanve is blastphemy.... if you do get rid of it. build a bumper.

oh one more thing. beadlocks are not always ill leagal. most are not DOT approved but there are a few and more popping up, hutchinson wheels are dot and as well AEV a jeep company. also companys like Staun have an internal system the is a beadlock that can be used as a runflat as well and is also DOT compliant.

yeah i've seen a ton of wranglers in at my work runnin bead-locks and i asked them if theyve ever had po-po-5-oh issues and they all said no.

however personally as a tire tech i wouldn't suggest them as a DD. but thats my .02

oh and sweet truck on craigslist here in pdx :) lol
FORD RANGER XLT-TROPHY TRUCK

if it had less miles i'd see if he'd swap/ but it's still a fair price really with what he has into it!

i can agree with dd'ing locks... most people wont stay up on bolt torque and tire pressure... thats the main reason most locks are not dot.

and that guy is a tard for calling it a trophy truck just cus it has some fibers and 33's....damn pdx'ers

EDIT: I'm an idiot.

Being legally blind is not helpful when finding car parts. Thanks for that, I will keep that in mind. This turbo Ranger is a real money pit, I need a job that pays more! Maybe once that thing is hitting low 12s I will be able to get back to the big tires.
