My Aux. backup lights usually do the trick they're angled just about right to catch a tailgating car right in the windshield. Before I had them or if it's daylight I just let off the gas and coast till they backoff. Just really depends what kinda mood I am in. Only time it really pisses me off is when I am on the bike...I used to carry a pocketfull of ball bearings for that. I dip too so been known to dump a spit bottle out the window about that time as well or let go a mouthful of spit if I don't have my helmet on the bike.

Years ago, I had a little 1st gen Mitsubishi Eclipse. A friend and I (he was behind me) learned that at about 75 or so, my washer fluid would sail right over my windshield and hit him behind me. Very funny to hit the button and he's the one cleaning off his window.

I'd use water...in the summertime. petroleum based solutions may eat paint, you don't really want to do that and may obscure his vision to the point he crashes...now you are the one that caused an accident.

Ya I get tail gaters every once in a while, usually I'll do what whippersnapper does slow down to **** them off so they'll try and pass me and I'll get back up to speed so they can't pass. Then I have a nice drop hitch that would screw up anybodys bumper if they come to close. I like your idea to.

We did the squirter thing to my buddies explorer out the back, I have one spraying out of the side of my toolbox, and we also put one in the grill of his little mazda 626. At one time I had a windshield washer reservoir pumping tranny fluid into the rear o2 bungs of my exhaust. That made a very thick cloud of white smoke come out of my stacks. =]

Oh yeah, for the people that do tailgate, they have a big black bumper and a pintle hitch that they will be becoming good friends with if their brakes aren't up to par.

Usually the penny trick works when going down the highway, but in town, brake check then proceed to drive about 10mph under the speed limit, come to a complete stop before turning right, will usually warrant the bird from the tailgater...

my dad told me about when he used to tow alot he had a trailer break controler in his truck and if you click it it turns the brake lights on and then he floored it. so it was like his brakes came on so it was like brake checking the vehicle behind him. but at the same time he floored it so the person stopped but he wasnt around anymore.. idk if it works with his controller in his yukon though

I just let it coast till they get pissed off then I floor it and wait till they catch up. Then I repeat as neccisary till the little jerk offs get the hint. If not spit or the finger gets them to understand that they should be patient till I have a safe chance to get over.

I keep a bunch of Cabbage patch dolls wrapped in white towels in the back of my cab. If someone is tailgating me I just grab one adn toss it out the back window. They ussually back off pretty quickly.

Guy at work sugested filling the reservoir up with something hard the remove with wipers such as a thin oil, or brake fluid so they and their paint learn a lesson .

i do whats called the double brake check. when theyre on ur *** just tap the breaks a little bit n they think thats all theyre getting then i mash the brakes really hard! it usually ends in them going off the side of the road =) i hate tailgaters, i dont drive slow by any means sooo when sumones on my *** they deserve whatever might come to them. the double brake check works great if they go to take a drink of coffee or sumthin lol

The best one is the 500 watt fog lights pointed to the rear! I've been wanting to do that to my truck for awhile.

I usually slow down to at or below the speed limit. Sometimes break check if they don't back off.

Once though, in NC on I-95 heading north to Raleigh from Fort Bragg I was in my little hyundai elantra. A Semi with trailer was tailgating me at about 85mph in the left lane. A van in front of me and a couple full size pickups to my right, so I couldn't move over or speed up. The guy was so close I couldn't see his bumper in my rear view. Brake tapping didn't do anything. And I wasn't about to brake check a loaded big rig at that speed. Once i got the chance to get over. I got whatever info i could off the truck. Called a friend of mine and had him look up the company on the trailer. It was different than the trucking company but they gave me the right number. I got the voicemail for like the safety officer or something, left my name, number and what happened with the trailer id #. He called back about an hour later and apologized profusely. He knew exactly where it happened, even though I hadn't said anything more than it was Northbound I-95. And told me he would take care of it.

When it's raining and people tailgate me. I do my best to find all the big puddles. Wipers don't work as well when there are several gallons of water coming down all at once.

i hate tailgaters as much as anyone else... but i generally get out of the way before they get to me to tail gate... i drive about 20km over the limit on the hiway, in the left lane, it's 3 lanes all the way to and from work... if i see someone coming up behind me, i move to the middle lane... if they get to me before i can move over due to other cars or them being a jack *** i slow down and keep them behind me, boxing them in if i can, but make it look like i didn't mean to (no brake lights, no sudden movements) this technique got me out of a very expensive ticket... as the car i moved over for was a cop... he still pulled me over though, but gave me a warning...

as far as the oil on the windsheild goes, if you spray it, wipers will not wipe it off first go... there is a VERY good chance they will crash, making you criminally responsible, and if you leave the scene of the accident (that you caused) you are now guilty of criminal negligence, in canada, this can land you jail time... i would not recommend it... if you are going to do this idea, use water or washer fluid, and hide the jets so you can say it must have caught the wind and blew over the cab, which will resolve you of any responsibility...

^ Haha i just slow down 5-10 below and roll down my window, aim my mirror so they can see me giving them crazy eyes. works 90% of the time.. other wise a good brake check is in order. intimidation is the name of the game.
