What size lift?

So as of right now I have a 2001 Ranger Edge ext. cab with 2wd and I'm interested in possibly putting a lift kit on it.

Everything is stock so any suggestions on how high i should get it lifted and about how much that would cost also?

The kind of lift depends on what your going to do with it. If your going to offroad it then go with a spindle lift, but if its just for show go with the body lift. The body life is also much cheaper.

If you have a manual transmission then you need a shift extensions, but you can make gap guards out of rubber mats from Lowes for like 5 dollars instead of the 70 they charge you. You technically do not need gap guards, it just looks better with them.

since you are a 2wd its worth it to get a spindle lift over a body lift... unless you do both

^so looking at this spindle lift^
I first noticed the price ha but while reading the description they recomened getting new shock absorbers because the Ford shock absorbers are not valved or designed to work with a larger and heavier than stock tire and wheel combo. So if i didn't get absorbers would i be o.k i mean i eventually plan to get new shocks but after this i def will have to wait til i get some more money haha

also would i want bigger size tires also (because wouldn't it look weird with small tires ha)

if you get spindles (which i recommend) you NEED to replace the stock rims. i got a kit for like $700 with fabtech spindle, aal, and 4 shocks. but i agree with 99ranger4x4. use the SEARCH ENGINE!!! there are post about which lift is better all the time. and theres links for prices ALL OVER THIS SITE!!!

i would highly recommed new shocks as soon as you install the lift. My truck bounced around too much....very dangerous. And tires should be done all at once too.....basically do everything at once, it will save you the hassle.

on another note, give him a break guys he's new. if it bugs you so damn much then why do you even click on this thread and post? And your just as new too Tim....

i got a fabtech 6 inch all the way around, but did not get shocks. that was about two months ago, and now i need shocks. so u can run stock shocks for a little while, but they will go out fast.
